First issue, the vape tasted like musty basement. Is that normal?
Second issue, I have to vape an absolute shit ton to get any effects. It limited how intense of an experience I could have because I had to constantly remember to keep hitting the vape instead of relaxing and exploring.
If it is pure, the taste isn’t fantastic but doesn’t taste horrible. The pure stuff is white to off-white crystals but may be more granular depending on how it was handled. The pure stuff tastes like used corn oil, tortillas, and a bit of plasticey chemical bitterness like a tiny bit of brake fluid.
Your method of intake may be your issue. The vape pens are convenient but it is harder to dose properly and it is suspended in a carrier fluid that doesn’t taste great, you can get a proper hit by just using a slow and steady lung inhale until you can’t. Smoking it with weed is inefficient and not worth doing. The best way is to use a hash pipe with steel wool in it and vaporise it, you just keep inhaling until you can’t or the vapor stops. It smokes like crack or meth, not nicotine or weed.
Remember, you can’t really have too big of a hit, so just fucking send it man.
All the same, the trick to DMT is letting it take you. If you fight it, you won’t have as good a time. It is unsettling how it takes you, but once you learn how to let go, things are brilliant.
The first time I REALLY broke through, I had put it on a bowl of ashes of already-smoked weed. That was the first thing that brought me into another dimension.

Like a piece of steel wool inside the pipe? Won’t that burn up and be bad to inhale?
You use thicker steel wool, not 000, so it is hard to ignite the wool unless you are sticking the flame into the bowl or really drawing hard. DMT’s vaporization temp is far lower than steel wool. A big mistake people make is putting flame directly to DMT, you want to draw heat into it and allow it to vaporize instead of burn(burning makes it taste worse.).
A hash pipe like that, the longer ones are better, with steel wool in it is the best way from my experience. You pack the steel wool really well in the bowl and melt the DMT into the wool by holding flame above it, flip it upside down and hold the lighter below the bowl(start far away and bring it up until you get vapor) while you do a gentle steady inhale just to pull the heat up and keep the melted DMT from being sucked into the pipe or dripping out. The steel wool’s purpose is to hold the melted DMT and transfer heat so it can vaporize efficiently. Once you have enough, finger comes off the carb and you hold your breath and set the pipe down, exhale and find out what the fuck the machine elves want to show you now.
For the amount you needed to consume, did you have N,N, or 5-MEO?
N,N is a much lighter touch, from my experience. 5-MEO will punch you in the face and send you to see the elves.
Only took me one hit off a vape to nearly break through, wish I remember how much I put in there. Maybe 30-50mg? Took it all in a single hit and held. Didn’t feel I was fully ready so I took a step back for a few years. An absolutely wild trip even though it wasn’t a break through experience. My girlfriend spoke with the machine elves on the same amount as I took, though.
Was it a huge hit? Did you fill your lungs?
Nah, it was a regular vape hit. Medium sized? Idk, similar to what I hit off a THC vape. Decent sized but not a lung buster by any means. Tasted plasticky and intense visuals (like a ten strip of acid intense) started within 15-20 seconds. Despite it being my first time I felt the presence of another being/beings with a “welcome back, don’t be afraid” message, it was non verbal. I didn’t break through but I was in the waiting room. It was a great experience, surprisingly easy for how intense it is. The short duration is a boon.
