I am an internet lurker, meaning that I’ve seen some brain rot like Tiktok, Elsagate, ✨AeStHeTiC✨, the console wars, internet rage baiters like Acheeto, consoomers dickriding the newest game, game journalism, basically anything about Millennials and Gen Alpha, et al. But surprisingly enough all of it can be traced to capitalism because the masses are so exploited and lack time to think “why does X magically happen”.

Tiktok brain rot and Elsagate were made possible by a mix of the pandemic (innthe case of the former( and parents being forced to slap ipads on their kids to focus on work. The console wars is just dividing gamers into camps while Sony, Micro$oft, et al profit off of it and even deliberately stoke them. There’s a reason Kavernacle saod you can’t trust gaming Youtubers and why diehard gamers like mw despise game journalists, 99% of gaming content is just dickriding x company, no questions just consoom product. If anything the only trustworthy gaming outlets are GamersNexus and a channel called NovemberHotel and even then there’s some flaws like NH parroting the whole SBI bullshit.

AeStHeTiC is basically girls’, femms, and enbies’ equivalent of the console wars here in the boy’s club. It’s absurd to me that people shit on each other over what is “pRePpy” and even literal death threats in sime cases. There’s a reason why making an aesthetic based on YOUR personality and hobbies got renamed to “MeCore”. Aesthetic is just corporate bullshit pacifying the rightfully dissatisfied masses.
