Today it was announced that John Broome has passed away.

John was the man who turned the Alton Towers estate into the pay-one-price theme park we know today.

He was responsible for adding many of the parks iconic coasters including The Corkscrew, The Black Hole, Thunderlooper and The Beast. Along with much of the park’s foundational infrastructure which is still in use today such as Towers Street, The Monorail and The Skyride.

    Always sad to see instrumental people in the industry pass on. From across the pond it seems that AT is still in good hands thankfully.
