This is most likely a consolidation of power because the left and right are both calling for elections and Bibi knows he ain’t going to win an election.

This isn’t a good sign of things to come

Netanyahu doing scummy things to cling to power no matter what is indeed a widely expected move.

I mean, terrible things can be expected to.

If trump becomes president the whole country could be expected to go down in flames.

But just because we can all see it coming, doesn’t mean we just shrug it off if he wins the election.

For this headline though, someone could just read the headline and assume it’s a good thing. It sounds like a good thing.

        But it’s not.

The headline had me scratching my head on if it was good or not to be honest. I’m leaning towards not good though, unless it blows up in his face somehow.

It will 100% blow up in his face.

Bibi is a “moderate” because Israels Overton Window is just as fucked as America’s.

Getting him out of power might result in a more rightwing leader.

And a desperate Bibi that has no chance of winning an election, would want to prolong military actions as long as possible to use the excuse that they can’t hold an election.

So it’s just a question of how many people’s faces this will blow up in.

A cornered animal is always most dangerous, but if they refuse to leave your bathroom, at some point you’re gonna have to either corner and remove it, or just accept that a family of rabid racoons now live in your toilet.

It blowing up in his face making everything worse wasn’t a outcome I thought of. Very scary thought.

I’m like the Larry Byrd of pessimism.

So to be clear, this could work out great, elections get called, Bibi loses gracefully, and a left wing collation can take control.

But man, how often do we get the best possible result these days?

Not often enough, probably why some of us are “happy” with “not that bad”. Side note I doubt bibi would be graceful about a loss.

It’s because Ben Gvir and Smotrich wanted to join now that Gantz is gone.
It’s still being convened, just not officialy and not as a “war cabinet”.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The forum was formed after Gantz joined Netanyahu in a national unity government at the start of the war after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks on Israel.

On Monday Netanyahu met with Amos Hochstein, the White House official tasked with trying to ease tensions on the Israel-Lebanon border.

It came a day after the Israeli military warned that intensified cross-border fire from the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group could trigger serious escalation in the conflict across its northern border.

“Hezbollah’s increasing aggression is bringing us to the brink of what could be a wider escalation, one that could have devastating consequences for Lebanon and the entire region,” Israeli military spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a video statement in English.

Hezbollah, which has been exchanging fire with the Israeli military in parallel with the war with Hamas in Gaza, last week launched the largest volleys of rockets and drones in eight months.

However, Sunday saw a marked drop in Hezbollah fire, while the Israeli military said that it had carried out several air strikes against the group in southern Lebanon.
