One flaw I now see in the gradle app, it doesn’t eliminate plurals from the pool. After SPENT it says there are 71 possible words but a lot of those were plural 4 letter words. As far as I know, wordle doesn’t just slap an s on the end of a word to get to the answer.
It’s an unwritten rule of Wordle. The solution has never been a plural ending in S, but it could happen someday. NYT has an editor decide the puzzle solution each day, and they have chosen a few solutions that we thought they’d never use.

I played smarter this time, covering my best 9 letters RTLECANIP with two guesses, leaving only 9 possible solutions. It’s all academic.
