I had been on lexapro/escitalopram for years but asked for something different to help with weight. Switched to Trintellix several months ago, but it’s not working very well and my weight is the same. Doc gave me option to try adding buspirone or go back to escitalopram. I chose buspirone. Anyone else tried it?

I’m SSRI resistant. Buspar saved my life. No brain zaps, nausea, passing out.

It does make me tired and hungry. Sometimes just straight up high feeling, like a marijuana high. I usually take a little nap, and it helps. This lasts an hour or so, starting 40 to 90 mins after taking a dose.

Eating with a small meal helps too.

I believe it helps smoking cessation. Sober these days, and just decreased my dose with no side effects.

I do have to take it every 12 hours compared to once a day. I take one right before bed, and then one in the afternoon. 10pm and 10am.

    I love buspar.

Any specific questions? I’d love to help.

I’ve been on it for about two years. It has helped me control my anxiety fairly well, but I can’t really speak to weight effects. I have gained weight over the last couple of years, but I also started working from home and have had several major stressors during that span of time. Plus, I’m staring down the age of 50 so my metabolism is also slowing. I didn’t notice any side effects from it at all, though, and it has been very well tolerated by my system.

I hope that helped, and good luck spinning the Wheel of Drugs!
