Demsā āweirdā attacks are getting under Trumpās skin. āOf course heās upset,ā a source toldĀ Rolling Stone
As Democrats continueĀ theirĀ rhetorical strategyĀ of trash-talkingĀ Donald Trump, his running mate J.D. Vance, and other āweirdā and ācreepyā conservative policymakers attempting to thrust the country into the dark ages, the former president has become increasingly furious at the messaging overtaking media outlets and internet memes.
During a Thursday interview with conservative radio host Clay Travis, Trump attempted to reverse the criticism and said that Democrats were āthe weird ones.ā He insisted, āNobodyās ever called me weird. Iām a lot of things, but weird Iām not. And Iām upfront. And heās not either, I will tell you. J.D. is not at all. They are.ā
āWeāre not weird people,ā Trump added. āWeāre weāre actually just the opposite.
How weird that theyāre so weird about being called āweirdā.
But seriously, it seems like Republicans need to think theyāre in the majority. āSilent majorityā and all that BS. Calling them āweirdā makes them confront how much of an outlier they are. Maybe thatās part of the source of their deep insecurity about being called āweird.ā Maybe also just the desire to not feel like the unpopular kids in highschool.
Boomers simply canāt handle criticism, especially when it comes from people they openly disdain like minorities, LGBTQ or young people. They canāt handle it. But yeah, being called weird seems to tap into some deep insecurity they have. Nooo, Iām the norm! Iām supposed to be the default experience. You canāt call us weird!
I think this particular jab hits home for Trump a lot harder than anyone else due to the narcissism. It may also apply to conservatives in general but I donāt think itās necessarily a widely applicable generalization.
