My Fold 4 had the dreaded screen protector crackling sound a few weeks ago. Never dropped my phone and I have a Spigen Slim Armor since day one. Made sure to clean it as much as I can and bombard it with a dust blower every so often.

Brought it to the repair center just to have the protector replaced and when I unfolded it to show the interior, it had the full black damage on the crease. Thankfully, I still had a month left of the free Samsung Cares so they fixed it for free and even replaced my hinge and power button (which had the flaked paint issue).

I expect this phone to break again sometime within the year so when they pitched insurance for $60 annually with coverage for about $900 worth of repairs and replacements, I quickly took the offer. I’m going to keep on buying/renewing until I have this phone since I don’t expect to upgrade unless a major breakthrough happens in foldables.

I’ll reverse your title: if you can’t get insurance, don’t get the phone.
