That name is a holdover from reddit. IIRC, it was created as the white version of r/blackpeopletwitter. When people jumped over to Lemmy, some people (sensibly) noted that it’s stupid to segregate tweets, and since we aren’t on reddit anymore, we don’t need to stick with their conventions. However, by that time the community had already been named, and it couldn’t be changed.
