Here’s my audiophile story. In the 1980s on a business trip I drove from Las Vegas to Yuma, AZ in a rental sedan. While I was there I stopped in an audio shop and they had a pair of Polk SDA 2A speakers for less than MSRP. These were an unusual design that had some stereo crosstalk cancelation that affected the sound stage and gave them the illusion of greater width.
I decided to buy them, so I asked the sales guy to give me a tape measure. As I measured the speakers to see it they would fit in the car he asked me why I was measuring them. “I want to see if they will fit in my car,” I said. He looked at me and said, “You gonna put those in YOUR CAR?” They fit in the car so I took them home and I used them for a few years till the novelty wore off and I got a pair of Thiel 2.2s.
