Growing up as a 90s child I played alot video games. The first gaming device that was mine was a gameboy color. I used to buy games with any money I would get. I had every pokemon game, and had I kept those, each one has drastically increased in value.

Whenever I’d want a new game, I’d have to beg my mom. Most of the time she wouldn’t buy me it and tell me to use my money(and Bday money or xmas etc, I didn’t get an allowance). This created the habit of selling my belongings whenever I wanted something new. The amount of games I sold to GameStop for a fraction of the value irks me now.

This lasted up until my ps4. But my wii u/ps3/gameboy games and some 3ds/ps4 games all sold whenever I wanted money.

Now I refuse to sell anything. None of the ps4 games I sold I paticularly want back as I mostly learned my lesson by then but I rest I regret. I have a case of switch games, a few ps5/ps4 games now I will never sell. To recollect the pokemon series will set me back a good chunk of change. I still have every one past ruby/sun/moon.

Tldr: if you are desperate for money to burn and going to sell games, consider saving your belongings. The sentimental value can sometimes be worth more than you consider at the time.
