Hi, so I’ve seen some conflicting accounts recently about the Holodomor and whether or not it was intentional. While searching for sources to prove whether or not the Soviets created the famine I couldn’t come across anything conclusive. Just articles suggesting that it was intentional. However, when looking for peer reviewed content on the matter I found a study out of Stamford saying it wasn’t. Also the academic work called, “The Years of Hunger: Soviet Agriculture, 1931-1933” by Stephen G. Wheatcroft and R.W. Davies. Where the authors themselves have their opinion saying it wasn’t intentional. Yet I see things like the, Soviet Politburo Resolution which also contradict what I just said. Also, you have the black book which I understand to be a bit wonky. Then you have testimonials from deserters which scream of bias. Im also aware a lot of the farming techniques were still quite antiquated. So I would just like to know if the whole famine was some sort of masterplan from the Soviet government at the time. Thank you for your time.
