Arabic, German, Hindi, Somali, Hebrew, Pashto, Czech, Swedish, Greek, polish, Irish, Russian, and of course all of the Romance languages have male and female gendered words. Why did so many completely unrelated languages develop this seemingly unintuitive feature?
