I have noticed that most history books have no chapter subheadings: They only seperate the contents by chapters, which are often 30-40 pages long, densely packed with information. Why is this? For me, this makes it harder to read a large text. I often cannot ingest and fully understand 30 pages worth of new information at once. Without subheadings, a natural point at which I can stop reading and return the next day with a fresh mind isn’t clear.
