So…. I’ve just had a run in with our 17 year old baby sitter, and her dad. She’s basically put her hourly rate up to 12 quid an hour, cash in hand. I’ve said it’s too much. When me and the missus go out, she’s provided a lift to our house, a lift home, snacks, sweets drinks when she’s here. We don’t go out till ridiculous hours, and the kids aren’t especially young. I’ve had her old man call me up and basically call me a bully. A fully qualified, minimum three year trained, employed spark in the uk is worth lesss than 18 pounds an hour according to the JIB. They’re then expected to train further, gaining extra qualifications, while also keeping their existing up to date. Qualified technicians rates are less than 20 an hour. I honestly think as a skilled trade, we are worth a lot more.
