Over 2 days in Dublin City I observed:

A man forcefully slap his girlfriend in the face.

A man getting jumped by another guy just off liffey Street.

A man injecting heroin in temple bar.

A man, going against traffic on an escooter, almost being run over on oconnell Street by a taxi. Who then proceed to follow the taxi while trying to put in its windows and yelling at the driver to come get him.

More spaced out homeless than I’ve ever seen in my life. And I’ve worked in the city for most of it.

The only time I ever seen a patrolling guard was when I entered grafton Street.

In greater dublin ive consistently seen drivers blatantly ignoring red lights causing oncoming traffic to jam on in recent months.

My own father was run over 2 weeks ago and suffered a fractured rib while the offending driver sped off. He was told it will be another 3 weeks before the guards can investigate.

These people know the public are intimidated and they know there will be little to no consequences for them.

I’ve also just read that the GRA plans to bring a motion of no confidence against Harris for, among other things, wanting to return the force to pre-covid hours. Which the GRA say will further reduce the amount of garda patrolling the streets. Harris intends to ignore any result of said vote.
