My company is interested in migrating our Managed MySQL DB from one cloud provider to another due to certain uptime issues with the current vender.
However, how should we evaluate Cloud providers instances and cost?
Variables that are confusing us
- vCPU core count
- RAM
- CPU instance family
- Dedicated VM va shared VM
Variables we can’t control
- CPU performance / frequency
- Storage throughout performance
- Memory frequency
Each cloud provider has a 100 different families of instances / VMs when all I really need is … storage… or so I think?
Some are shared, dedicated, good for storage intensive… there are so many choices…so how do you compare one cloud performance to another?
