I have a new PC I built with an AMD 7950X3D and an AMD RX 7900 XTX.
I have been waiting forever for the new 57" to be officially announced and am about to break and just get the 49 inch currently out. It would be nice to have the option to have 4k at 240 hz native with the DP 2.1 that the 7900 supports. But I have been thinking that since I ALWAYS set highest graphics settings on everything for best visuals and wouldn’t compromise that, I likely wouldn’t likely use the 4k AND 240 hz anyway since my card likely couldn’t run even current generation games at 4k,240hz,highest graphics.
Would I be better off getting the 1440p version? I feel like at that resolution I probably could get highest settings on pretty much everything at 240hz.
One other caveat is that since the 1440p G9 is still DP 1.4 would I still get scanlines trying to do 240hz on it even with the lower resolution or does the resolution at 1440p make it so DSC (scanlines) doesn’t have to be used to hit the 240 hz?
Any advice would be welcome. I feel like even WHEN the 57 inch G9 finally releases I still won’t know which would be better to drop $$ on.
