Ultrawide Stacked Bros! I need your advice!

I’ve been using a cheap 29" 1080p 21:9 LG Ultrawide with an old 24" 1080p 16:9 monitor to its right as a dual monitor setup for the longest time. Both of these monitors are extremely old and have horrible image quality.

At the moment, I’m planning on building a new PC and replacing these old monitors with something new - mostly for productivity reason with the occasional gaming sessions once in a while.

38" Ultrawide seems nice, but since I’m planning to replace 2 monitors all at once, going the 38" route will end up being quite costly - especially if it’s two 38" stacked. So I think 34" (1440p) is probably a more sane/logical option. (Main priority is image clarity since I do a lot of work in front of my desk so I’m hoping the jump to 1440p will be more easy on the eyes compared to my old 1080p monitors.)

Should I go for two 34" stacked? or 34" + a 27" on the side as a dual monitor setup? (both being 1440p.)

My habit is usually using the Ultrawide as the front monitor for doing productivity work with the 16:9 on the right for web browsing, full screen youtube/video consumption, etc. Which a 27" will provide, plus having the ability to flip it around to portrait mode for some added flexibility.

But at the same time… two 34" Ultrawide stacked also seems pretty appealing as well. It’s just so damn clean! The only thing I’m worried about is the viewing angle of the top stacked monitor. Is it comfortable? Doesn’t feel too far away being all the way up there when viewing from below? And most importantly, does it not get annoying not having a monitor that you could full screen a video with without the black borders?

How has your stacked experience been? Were you able to get used to some of these compromises? Did you move back to 1 Ultrawide + a 16:9 on the side?
