I’ve never had an attic before - I’m running a bunch of cables (fiber/cat6a) up through the wall stud which will exit out the top plate to the unfinished attic.
I see tons of examples of people doing this but I don’t have any questions about getting to the attic it’s more of what’s the proper thing to do with the cable once I get there.
I’m planning on running some smurf tube from the top plate hole to the in wall IDF / media enclosure which I’ll seal with foam.
But how should I manage the cables coming out in the attic? Do I just run them as if they were power e.g. secure along joists when parallel then use guard strips when going perpendicular? Would be easier going straight up then across - though in a proper environment you’d run conduit for vertical runs.
Existing coax is just in huge unsupported loops of extra cable so I can’t really copy that example lol.
Thanks!
