Hello.

I have an older HP desktop that I used to run Windows 7 on and connect to my home network via a D-link nano usb dongle. Everything worked perfectly. This spring I upgraded the PC with a new SSD and a fresh windows 10 installation. Now it refuses to connect to the wireless network. I have tried with two different revisions of D-link dongles but no success (they work fine on my other computers). But if I set up a hotspot on my phone that is connected to the same home network, the PC connects right away!

I’ve read though a lot of tips and tried them to no avail; For instance I’ve disabled IPv6, tried 802.11b/g and 802.11b/g/n, made windows forget the network, changed the name of the network, reset the router, updated the firmware in the router, reinstalled the driver of the dongle, tried a bunch of written commands with elevated permission, and so on. Still the same problem, “Can’t connect to this network”, and connects just fine to the phones hotspot.

My network consists of two Deco M5 units. Channel can’t be changed manually on these so I can’t try that. There are 2 other desktop computers in the house which connects just fine with the same d-link dongles and running Windows 10.

I’m running out of ideas here and it’s getting quite frustrating since it’s a htpc which is used for quite a lot of streaming. Laptops and phones connects just fine to the network as well.

Any tips i havn’t tried?
