When I initially started using linux, steamvr worked perfectly for me on manjaro xfce and popos gnome with a nvidia gpu, intel cpu, and valve index.
For the past year I haven’t used linux and NONE OF MY HARDWARE HAS CHANGED and recently created first a new endeavour os gnome installation where it didn’t work and now I’m on a manjaro gnome install and it doesn’t work here either. I tried making my two latest installs more similar to my previous ones by trying to use nvidia ver 470 drivers with linux 5.10 but that didn’t change anything at all.
When I start steamvr, it opens with like 2 steamvr settings windows that are completely blank, I put my headset on, the steamvr home works but it doesnt have reprojection and i get motion sick, i try open the steamvr menu and all the game icons have inverted colours and it has a chance of randomly dying and not being able to be opened again. If I launch a vr game it doesn’t even open in vr, only on the desktop.
I tried with the flatpak ver but there’s that problem of not being able to run it with sudo and what ended up working with the error of like “missing features” or smth, it didnt work either.
I might consider installing manjaro xfce and trying to run steamvr on that but i doubt itll work. I already installed xfce additionally to my endeavour install and that didnt work.
I personally don’t want to use Windows for steamvr but it seems like I might have to.
If anyone has any advice for me, please do tell.
