The new BG3 has been released, but I’m cat-sitting for my old folks for a week without my computer. Instead, I’m using my father’s laptop where he’s kindly set up a profile I can use. It’s an HP Elitebook 820 g3; a non-gaming laptop from 2016, so it can’t run very modern things. It’s running the latest stable version of Linux Mint, and has Wine and Steam. However, I know extremely little about linux.
And so I come to you to ask for advice on some RPG that can run on an old laptop with Linux Mint, that is straightforward to get running for someone who doesn’t know linux.
I’ve googled around a bit on games that I feel confident can run on the hardware, e.g. Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 and Neverwinter Nights 1, but haven’t found a straightforward guide on how to get them to run on Linux.
Only specific games I know I’m not looking for are ADOM, Tales of Maj’Eyal, and Caves of Qud, simply because I’ve kinda played them to exhaustion.
Thanks for any tips!
PS: I hope this is an appropriate subreddit to ask; I didn’t see many posts like these, but couldn’t see anything about it not being appropriate. If I’m in the wrong place, apologies.
