Original Title: Having proper PC ports for these timeless gems on the SD with their mods and enhancements installed is priceless. I will list some of the mods I used as well as the methods if you are interested in playing them yourself.
Need for Speed Underground 2 + ThirteenAG’s Widescreen Patch + Xbox Dropplets + Xbox higher quality FMVs + Xtended Input for proper controller support + Lastbreath textures pack mod (without the exaggerated and oversaturated SweetFX preset) : This one was a lit tricky. Spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out why the game would just not launch even though I followed all the instructions. Turns out that it is a bit hit or miss depending on the build you are using. You have to have the 1.2 patch applied and use a NoCD exe. I followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze7HKZBlxno Unfortunately, the link to the mod pack that the video creator refers to is down, but he links each mod in the video description, which are still good links. He doesn’t link Xtended Input though, which you can find here:
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past native PC port with 16:10 aspect ratio support + Better shaders pack: This one was bit tricky as well as it requires you to enable developer mode both on Gaming Mode as well as Desktop Mode, but fortunately there is a video that explains all the steps that you have to follow:
Before step 12, which is when you run the “Make” command, make sure that you install some libraries necessary, which is something that the video skips. To do so, just run the following command on the console (Open Konsole from the apps launcher, not on the folder): sudo pacman -S glibc linux-api-headers
Resident Evil 2 Sourcenext native port + RE2HD Seamless Project texture pack + Classic Rebirth for proper controller support and QoL features from later games: I didn’t use a video tutorial for this one, but there is a Reddit post explaining what to do:
Silent Hill 2 native port + Enhanced Edition for proper controller support, proper widescreen, higher quality fog and practically a higher resolution version of the PS2 game, which is the definitive edition: This one wasn’t as difficult as the previous ones, but isn’t as straightforward as you would want to. There is a very well explained YouTube tutorial though, which you can find here (I used method 1, btw):
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time native PC port (The Ship of Harkinian) with proper controller support including gyro controllers and modern camera controllers, proper widescreen plus many other features: This one was the easiest and most straightforward out of all the other games. You basically just download the Linux build, place your ROM that you legally obtained in the same folder and then just execute the build. Then just add the game to the Steam library and that’s it. The instructions come with the build:
Note: This link isn’t providing any copyrighted content, but rather a compiler that compiles the game. The person still has to provide a ROM that they have to legally acquire.
