One of my favorite use cases for the Deck is the ability to plug into a T.V. and entertain a small-medium group of people with party and couch coop games! I’ve had sessions where the Deck handled Switch, Xbox, and PS controllers simultaneously like a champ.

I’m always on the lookout for cheap, fun games that are accessible enough to pick up quickly but are engaging enough to actually be fun to play.

Although steam has a “local co-op” tag, I find that it’s rarely utilized by devs, even when their games have local coop, often opting for the “Cooperative Play” tag, which tells me nothing about how many people are going to be able to play it at my house.

So what are the classics you guys like to pull out when you have multiple people to entertain? They can be party games that use one controller, or multiplayer games that use multiple.

My favorites so far:

  • Brawlhalla
  • Castle Crashers
  • Gang beasts
  • Golf with friends
  • Any lego game (for 2 ppl)
  • Naruto ninja storm 4
  • Pummel Party
  • Road Redemption
  • Rocket League (RIP)
  • Stick Fight

EDIT: Doesn’t it seem like differentiating between online multiplayer and local multiplayer should be a required step for getting Deck verified? It would take 3 seconds for the devs and would make a huge difference in knowing how I’d be able to play the games I’m considering purchasing. Since couch play and multiplayer are two big use cases for the Deck, it seems like it should be more consistent than if the devs happen to decide to use that level of details in their tags.
