TL/DR I’m looking for a media server suggestion for my non tech older sister who is cutting her cable.

Long story I am internet only / no cable with Plex on a tower.

My less technical sister had bad cable experience years ago and went with DSL and Direct TV. Recently she decided to try out cable since service has probably improved.

I recommended an XFinity solution because her tech fu is weak and I am in a different city.

She got sold by ATT customer imprisonment rep on a 5G Router service which pissed me off because I knew I’d wind up trying to patch it up.

So long story short she now has a 5g home router and no media storage capability for recording video from ATT. She doesn’t torrent but wants to record cable programs.

Any recommendations for out of box solutions?
