This is a vent post, so if this is the wrong sub, please let me know and I’ll move it.

Trying to make a very long story short, people have been increasingly asking for the dev and/or the mods to take a stand on hate speech, bigotry, and extreme right wing politics and misinformation. All along the way, people have been leaving over the lack of a strong stance, or because they felt attacked, or because they were alt right themselves and angry at the push back to thier “free speech”.

Today the developer finally made a statement. You can still see it as of 7 a.m. eastern time, second from the top on s/all . He was specifically responding to a series of posts that had called for the removal of the moderator of s/conservative, after he’d been found to be a Trump supporter, with some damning connections on GAB, and a link to child porn.

He’s decided to leave said Trump supporter in place, and condemned the posts by person who hunted down all of the links and dug up all of the dirt as “targeted harassment”.

The comments are full of bigots praising him, and complaining that “the mob still wants red meat”, in response to everyone else either partially agreeing or stating the obvious, that it doesn’t go nearly far enough.

In trying to please everybody, he’s accomplished just the opposite. It’s a dumpster fire.

And I’m exploring other options, because this is ridiculous.

Edit: TLDR: The developer and the mods are arguing with the users over what constitutes hate speech and misinformation. I’m not even kidding.
