In Peru on my hike, I noticed that this mountain is super dry and hot in one part and wetter / more jungle-y in another part. I thought it might be a rain shadow effect… but these two parts are on the same side of the same mountain! (See pics linked below)
Also, the wet air from the Atlantic blows in from the East / NE. So based on rain shadow effect, the part that is dry shouldn’t be. What is going on?
