I recently upgraded two PC’s (mine and my friend’s) and both are having some display issues. Here are the specs shared between the computers:
- CPU: 5800X3D
- GPU: Powercolor Red Dragon 6800XT
- Monitor: Acer SB220Q bi with HDMI
The old specs are:
- CPU: AMD 2600
- GPU: Nvidia 1660Super
- Monitor: Same one, Acer SB220Q bi
The two PC’s have different PSU’s. One is new with 800W, one is old but is 750W. One of the PC’s also has a fresh install of Windows 10.
The build went fine, and everything runs great. However, any time I turn on the computer, the display shows “Input not Supported” until it posts and I see the Windows lock screen. This means that I cannot get into BIOS without changing the monitor or putting in the old GPU. Other than that, the PC functioned fine.
That is, until I discovered another display issue. I usually have Windows Night Light on while using my PC. I turned it off while playing Warframe, and got some sort of artifacting. Here are some examples of this:
It’s worth noting that the artifacting changes depending on what I’m doing. It only occurs when I have apps open, such as YouTube, Discord, and video games. It only happens when I turn off/on Night Light. It is sometimes green flashing squares, white horizontal flashing lines, or purple squares. It goes away when Night Light stops adjusting, and will usually only appear in the upper half of the monitor. It does not show when capturing the screen.
I do have another monitor I have on the way that is 1440p 144Hz. But want to make sure that it’s not my new hardware that’s causing any issues.
Here are the things I’ve tried:
- DDU old GPU drivers
- Motherboards are on the latest BIOS update
- Artifacting does not occur on TV
- Artifacting does not occur with old 1660S GPU
- Have tried a HDMI to DP cable to test different ports on GPU
- I have heard this is a really common issue with Flux, but have not tested it myself
- Messed with Adrenalin settings, such as turning on/off FreeSync, VSync, etc
