I’ve recently switched to Starlink. I live in France and have an Xbox.
As per the title, since switching to Starlink I’ve lost access to some Microsoft/Xbox services. I can no longer buy games from the Microsoft Store when I’m oconnected via the Starlink. I need to unplug my ethernet cable and tether my (French) cellular connection to the console via wifi.
I also can’t access the Rewards app, convert points to credit, and turn in daily Gamepass quests. Neither on the Xbox or on the smartphone app. But as soon as I switch to my French mobile internet, it’s all good.
Whenever I want to access the Rewards app on the Xbox I’m greeted with an error message asking me to correctly set my console location in the console settings. Except :
- I’m physically in France
- My console is set to French, and France.
- My Microsoft account is set in France
- My credit card is French.
- My IP is located in France whenever you I use “My IP” tools on the web.
I’m kinda lost here. I teied switching the Xbox’s location to the USA but I still get the error message telling me to set my console location correctly. I have no idea where the Xbox servers think I am.
I’ve contacted Xbox support on the phone and they told me it’s not their problem and to contact my ISP.
I’ve contacted Starlink Support last week and still no reply or fix.
Anyone in or outside the USA have this problem?
By the way, I’ve tried on the Starlink router and my own (via ethernet bypass), my NAT is open (says the Xbox), I’ve tried Google and cloudflare’s DNS servers.
Please don’t tell me to just buy a VPN subscription somewhere, I’d like to not have to pay in order to use my paid internet access.
Thank you for taking the time :)
