I’ve seen a lot of content on TikTok lately discussing internal monologues, visual thinkers, and the voice in one’s head. Nearly all of this content addresses how some people have a voice in their head and some don’t, and I cannot wrap my head around it.

Myself and the friends I’ve discussed this with all have an ‘internal monologue’ that we have ‘conversations’ with, we use to read, and that narrate our days etc. and that we rely on to get through the day.

So how does someone’s day to day functioning differ without that inner voice?

If possible, I’d also like to try and understand: Are you able to silently read? And if so, how does the story take shape? How does your thought process work when making decisions? How do you go through the steps of completing a task?
