Thanks in advance for any help! I’ve been reading a ton of threads and have a few questions. I am finishing my basement and adding a theater room. The room is 18 ft by 16 ft. I’m planning on doing a riser approximately one foot high with two rows. I had a few questions.

  1. I’ve read a lot of recommendations for wiring a second sub, but don’t see any recommendations in the Dolby guides. Where would I wire this? In the back Center?

  2. I’m debating between a 5.1.4 and a 7.1.4 setup. Likely start with 5.1.4 and add. How much space between wall and listening ear do you need for 7.1. Not sure if I’ll have enough space. Currenly plan is about a foot off wall to back of couch. (I know this is less then recommended)

  3. Placement of Atmos. Looking at the Dolby guides it is a little confusing. Would I rough in directly ahead, or behind couch? How close to the TV?

  4. I’m wiring the jacks directly into the wall. What height is recommended for the wiring (not necessarily the speaker)

  5. I’ve read that in-wall speakers are not usually recommended. Does that include the Atmos speakers? Can I use any speaker for the Atmos, just mounted on the ceiling?

Thanks for answering my questions! It has been fun (and very overwhelming) reading all about it. I will post pictures once this thing is done!
