What are the factors you’d consider if you’re thinking about buying an old house in Zurich. A few specific questions: * Asbestos: Since the house is so old, I’m worried about asbestos from previous renovations. Does anyone have recommendations for good testing companies? * Structural integrity: Some of the wooden beams are pretty deeply cracked and some of the floors are noticeable sloped. Does anyone have recommendations for someone who can examine the structural integrity of the home? * Renovation constraints: The house is a row house and in the “central” zone of a municipality. Where can I find out about potential renovation limitations that the other owners or the city can impose? * Renovations: How hard is it to work with Swiss contractors if you don’t speak German? We can listen, but not really speak. * Other gotchas: How else might we be screwed that we didn’t think about here?

If you have recommendations for home inspectors, or if you’ve gone through this process and are open to chatting, I’m open to DMs =)
