    peak fiction, another banger chapter.

    spoiler

so, something that i think i’ve seen people miss on the first pass of this, what the X on Luffy’s arm in the newspaper is. it’s from Vivi! she added it on top of the photograph (why it’s clear when the photo is blurry) as a message to her friends. none of the strawhats that are with the giants recognized it but Robin, and then only vaguely, because they weren’t around for Alabasta. Robin probably saw it but didn’t quite have all of the semantic meaning attached by the Alabasta plot.

Also, I want to put in my take that Loki’s legendary devil fruit will be a Zoan corresponding to Fenrir in Norse mythology. i’m not all in on that, but Fenrir is bound with chains by the Aesir until Ragnarok. alternatively, Loki’s eye bandages remind me somewhat of Odin, so perhaps it’s something more connected to that.

i was also very surprised that Hajrudin was a prince.

Ohhhh nice call on the X meaning! Sausages Oda-sensei!

There’s a lot to pull from for the devil fruit but I also wonder if that could be a misdirect since the official story is that Loki killed his father for his devil fruit, but how does he know how to steal a devil fruit?

oh i hadn’t even thought about that. great point, yeah maybe the official story is wrong in some way. i definitely expect loki to get luffy to free him regardless; trickster god (name) vs one of the canonically dumber people in the verse.
