On American TikTok users cannot seatch the phrase “Donald trump rigged election”, however when using a vpn to a mexican server the search does return results.

    I’m fine with agreeing that there is no way to be sure if this is a recent change. But I’m not going to agree that it was probably in place since 2020, as there is no evidence for that either. I can’t afford them the benefit of the doubt when they’ve openly praised Trump already. I actually find it quite unlikely that TikTok as a platform would give a shit about combating misinformation about America in America.

    It’s all just guesses at this point.

      Why wouldn’t they? In 2020 Trump signed an executive order in an attempt to get TikTok banned. After that is when we had Trump fuming about a rigged election and the events of January 6th, which were all over every social media platform. On their “Combating Misinformation” page, they talk about election integrity several times. Most social media have a misinformation policy since 2016 because there were questions about that election too. It’s incredibly likely this has been in place since 2020.
