    As we’ve seen, they don’t work at all if countries like India and China are still willing to trade with them via backdoor channels.

      What we’ve seen is the exact opposite. The state is running huge deficits, burning through its war chest, and the economy is very hot right now.

          Well burning through their savings, and printing money like Weimar means they do absolutely not sell enough oil. So they do sell but largely not enough.

          Even less is better ofc.

            Of course, less is better. I’m just saying that for sanctions to have the intended effect, everyone needs to be on board with punishing them.
