Summary

Elon Musk has taken control of key federal agencies via his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), staffed by a group of young engineers with little to no government experience.

The engineers are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran. None have responded to requests for comment from WIRED.

These individuals, aged 19 to 24, have gained access to sensitive federal systems, including those of the Treasury Department and USAID.

Experts warn that Musk’s unchecked influence poses security risks and a potential government takeover.

Employees at GSA tell WIRED that Coristine has appeared on calls where workers were made to go over code they had written and justify their jobs. WIRED previously reported that Coristine was added to call with GSA staff members using a non-government Gmail address. Employees were not given an explanation as to who he was or why he was on the calls.

Imagine having to justify your existence to some kid just out of high school.

One that is so full of Musk-like puffery that he is making these people explain their code to him so he doesn’t have to embarrass himself by attempting to figure it out, and doing it in the manner of a scolding school marm as a facade of smug superiority.
