Like this? Like switching domestic heating over to heat pumps? Germany isn’t planning on using any fossil gas in the future, the stuff that will be left (because it cannot be avoided, e.g. as chemical feedstock, or to reduce iron ore) will be green hydrogen.

Also I’m sorry you don’t like Gepards, or Leopards. Or Lynxes. Big cats in general.

You haven’t been following the innumerable articles about German industries wringing their hands and moaning about the good old days of cheap energy. They might be cajoling the general public, but the corporations are suffering and having trouble adapting. Everything was designed around cheap Russian gas. And they’ve thrown all of their nuclear infrastructure away because of their rabid ecologist party (which has in part contaminated their French neighbours).

Nuclear is no replacement for the critical uses of gas, noone wants to build it anyway because it’s expensive AF, and yes of course companies are moaning. They always are.

A full 1/3rd of German gas use is domestic heating which is getting replaced by heat pumps now, up to 70% of the replacement costs get covered by the state. Because, apparently, Germany wants to stick with Russian gas? Meanwhile, French industry uses ballpark the same amount of gas as the German industry. Yet noone is talking about the French industry controlling the French state, making them bow to Russians.

The fuck are you people talking about. What parallel dimension are you living in.

          But what about France 🤡

Where did france import their gas from? Where is their current supply mix?

Mostly they’re buying from Norway, their mix hasn’t really changed.

As Europe overall is weaning itself off natural gas (Germany leads, but others will follow once the economics of scale are there) Norway will in all likelihood be the only supplier for a while.

      1. Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza with direct support from Germany
      2. Ukraine is losing the war to Russian in part because Germany’s support has been spotty at best.
      3. US maintains 40k troops within Germany to defend it against Russia when Germany can barely slap two operational brigades for deployment while spending similar tomoney to France who actually maintains a proper defense posture. Who is stealing all this defense money?

        1. Completely irrelevant to the topic at hand
        2. Neither is Ukraine losing nor has the support been spotty. It could certainly be more intense, but it has been steady.
        3. Where is what money? Our defence budget has been a joke for ages.

Go back to lemmygrad, FUD there.

The topic you started was Germany allegedly being an oligarchy, moreso, that those oligarchs would form a singular clan. And I must disappoint you: The foreign policy failures of the last decades are very much a topic that’s talked about in German politics.

German foreign policy was shaped by oligarchs wanting access to cheap Russian gas for their companies. T

These people are still in charge and Germans are still in denial. Ukraine support is such pain in the ass is because these people obstruct the state from running a proper foreign policy.

These same clowns support Israel too due commercial ties.

I am happy to hear that Germans recognize the failure of these policies but nothing is really showing currently that Ukraine war is a real issue for Germany. Germany is completely fine for Ukraine to fold so it can return to buying Russian gas on the cheap.

Germany is supposed to be leading Ukraine war afford from American perspective. Instead we had to blow Nord Stream 2 with great of Nord stream 1 being next if Germany didn’t get its act together.
