Hey everyone, between yesterday’s security incident on some lemmy instances and the horrible heat that won’t let me sleep properly, I’m feeling a bit flat.
I’m still around, but taking a bit of a break from server stuff now that things are mostly stable.
How’s your day going?
Everything is fine! Just finished bachelor’s degree and enjoying the rest of the summer at work, but there’s nothing to complain about. It’s not so hot where I live, usually not more than 25°C, so that’s why I spend a lot of time outside in this weather
I hope that you’re able to rest and take a break from all that’s been going on. The heat is horrible here too, and it’s going to be 114F this weekend.
Other than that, stressed by work as usual but I’m slightly getting by.
I’ve finally gotten back into the habit of going to gym, it feels nice to be fit again. My week has been pretty rubbish so far otherwise, had to put one of my dogs to sleep, and I’ve got some potentialy serious medical issues cropping up, got to wait on my doctor for that though.
So, you know, just trucking along.
Going pretty well, doing some minor side RP for one of my friends’ DnDs after a long day at work. The deathly heat seems to have passed over the UK somewhat at this point, thankfully
Saw Indiana Jones today and had a good time. The heat is unbearable fr
Day has been mostly boring. (For me that is a good thing. Will take it over hectic.) Haven’t had time to draw though which sucks but oh well.
I can’t stand haat, but what I found helps for me is cold brewed green tea. It is so cooling and very refreshing without the normal bitter taste of hot green tea (I still enjoy a good cup of hot green tea!) I handle the heat better than I normally do.
The easiest way is put a green tea bag in a cup, put in ice and water and let the ice melt to let it cold brew the tea. Once it is done, drink up! Or if you want ice with it, add an extra cube or two to help it stay cold as you drink.
I’m also unable to sleep due to the heat, it sucks. ;_;
Apart from that, earlier today I had the bright idea to try and set up matrix/synapse on my server. And after a series of rather poor decisions on my part, I think I have the server back to a similar condition that it was when I started.
Ow, what problems did you encounter?
So my server is really old. So old that the OS on it is a 32bit i386 one, which Synapse doesn’t support. There’s instructions out there on how to “crossgrade” Debian from i386 to x86_64. Would not recommend, but all things considered it didn’t go as bad as it could have.
None of this is the fault of Matrix or Synapse though, of course.
