I’d like to know if mods can still see what the person originally wrote

There is a tag that shows that a comment has been edited and it shows the time of the last edit. There’s a little pencil icon next to comment’s time that shows both creation time and last edited time. You can see that icon on this comment.

does that show for you being on your lemmy instance vanilla from a browser? If so I may have to add that on an mbin vs lemmy thing. I went with mbin because I use a laptop browser and it had a better feel but I like to keep an eye out for tradeoffs. I actually thought there was no way to collapse thread for a long time though and just noticed where it is like a few weeks ago for mbin. I guess it might be a new thing but im like 99% sure I just missed it. Don’t see anything like the pencil icon on mbin in a browser though.

you know there is a an option on a dropdown called activity and when I go to it I just see the comment alone on a page. my theory now is if its edited it will show the history but I would have to have an edited comment for it to show. I got to find one of my edited old ones and check it out.
