My biggest problem with it is the implication that DeSantis has a mental illness, or that if he had a mental illness that would be the problem with him. Being fascist is not a mental illness. Mentally healthy people can be fascists. And mentally ill people can have great politics and do great service to the world. Psychology isn’t necessary to figure out what’s wrong with DeSantis; you just need a heart.

[Edit: “Mentally healthy, well-adjusted people can be fascists” -> “Mentally healthy people can be fascists”]

I really disagree that you could consider any fascist ‘well-adjusted’, that’s a near complete contradiction in terms.

I do remember wondering if that was good wording. I think what I was trying to get across is that fascists can be friendly, sociable, considerate, even compassionate, in the right circumstances. The human psyche is extremely adept at compartmentalization.

You can solve for mental illness, you can’t solve for asshole. 🤷‍♂️
