you laugh at the absurdity that somebody with a silly idea that looks “cool” on paper would ever actually make something like this or worse be allowed to make things like this when safer designs exist and are better in every way but in my country the architects of multi-thousand pound metal boxes that hurtle wrecklessly across the landscape murdering pedestrians are lionized with prestige for designing architecture like this.

To be fair, that’s a very special vehicle most likely to be used in a quarry and nowhere else. It serves it’s purpose, everyone knows it is around and you can hardly fail to notice it from a reasonable distance. Very much unlike an SUV which is technically useless, driven by morons, a waste of material, every reasonable designers’ or engineer’s nightmare and always in a place where it does not belong.

I may be a moron, but I drive an SUV out of necessity. And it’s only slightly larger than the average car.

I think the word you’re looking for is “light” truck, such as F150 et.al.

EDIT: Oh, I just saw a Ford Excursion outside. Those things are absolutely stupid. Must be something about American car brands because SUVs from reasonable brands are reasonable vehicles.
