I think it is even the case that once we are talking half-a-century in prison, all manner of reform is possible, lol…

But yeah, IDK enough about the case in specifics.

There is an interesting conspiracy theory that it was Tex and not Manson that is actually responsible for the murder, but like a lot of true crime, it requires a lot of reading to even get a sensible theory of what happened developed.

There’s also a good theory that Manson was a CIA asset, which sounds crazy at first until you start looking into it, like why the fuck this lifetime criminal was just allowed to do whatever the fuck he wanted out in the desert without police intervention after being released from prison.

I heard your theory about Tex also, which may be true.

I don’t generally have a lot of sympathies for criminals, but she was tortured, drugged and heavily influenced by Manson (and maybe some CIA agents) before committing the crime.

The big takeaway from her release is keeping all the Manson family in prison just on principle. Letting them out would look bad for whichever politician or party was in control when it happened on their watch. It’s just one more thing to make CA look awful.

Clem Grogan was already released, though he wasn’t involved in the Tate/LaBianca murders. Houten is the only one involved that has been given parole.

As for the case, the story you hear and has gone down in history as what actually happened, was written by Bugliosi, the prosecuting attorney, who has since been found to have been playing fast and loose with the facts and hiding a bunch of shit. He made his career on the Manson case and has been very successful because of it but now there are a lot of questions. There’s likely a lot of shit that’s been lost to time and we’ll never know.

Very excellent background information, thank you

You won’t hear about it but a lot of shit has come up that calls into question everything he said. His book, Helter Skelter is supposed to be the definitive story of the case but now there are a lot of holes in it, including your theory which said that Charlie never intended anyone to get killed and Tex had him and the girls murder to challenge his leadership of the family. Charlie never told anyone to kill people during the Tate murders and Tex went off script. Then Tex ran away to Texas before the rest of the family were arrested, so there was some shit going on we’ll probably never know about.
