    Montreal police said in a statement that the security of citizens, police officers and demonstrators was compromised that night. They would not share details about their crowd control techniques, citing “strategic reasons” and “ongoing investigations.”

    “Strategic decisions were made taking into account public safety issues, particularly due to the presence of thousands of people in Place Émilie-Gamelin and Ste-Catherine Street as part of the Pride festivities,” the statement from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said.

    “Strategic” my ass. The truth is that this is just another example of cop’s overreach.

    And as always, ACAB.

    This is absolutely awful! A bunch of people harmed by police for being at an event near a protest. Guilty by association I guess.

    In case anyone missed it from the article “The march, organized by P!nk Bloc Montréal and several other 2SLGBTQ+ community groups, was intended as a protest in opposition to what organizers said was the corporatization of traditional pride and a loss of its roots. P!nk Bloc did not respond to CBC’s request for an interview.”

    Also: “Actually, we ended up being hurt by the police,” he said. “I don’t know how dangerous the march was, but [the protesters] were definitely not the ones that were attacking us.”

      It really feels like the SPVM have a blank check to abuse LGBT+ anti-capitalist protestors. They broke up an entire march with tear gas and chased down the protestors with cars and bikes in March, all because a cop got some paint on his uniform. And that was after they went through the crowd trying to provoke responses before the march started. That was a pro-trans rights, anti-capitalist protest. This feels like more of the same.

    “I saw this firework going up, and I thought it was a firework, so I looked up, and then it landed right on my baby, like two inches from her face,” said Jean-Philippe Forget, one of the fathers pictured in the image. It was not a firework.

    I’m pretty sure the first explanation given by SPVM was that it was because of the wind lol
