I’m a newbie but i really like Take No Prisoners by Megadeth
Pure White Poison (Masshiro na Doku) - Utsu-P
“Laser Cannon Death Sentence” by Dethklok
“it’s melodic death metal.”
Black Sabbath, by Black Sabbath, from the album Black Sabbath.
Where do you stand on “Hocus Pocus” by Focus?
Pretty good track! But maybe not as good as Weed by Weed, from the album Weed.
I like that song “Bad Company”, but I forgot who wrote it.
I don’t recall, but I’m pretty sure it’s off the Bad Company album.
I’m also a big fan of Iron Maiden, the last track on Iron Maiden, and Motörhead from the Motörhead release. But I forget who wrote those too.
I also really like Sanctuary by Elder for something modern-ish and proggy, Sweet Tooth by Intervals for something happy, or The Cromlech Gate by Enslaved for something extra heavy.
Murmaider
a classic: “Hallowed Be Thy Name” by Iron Maiden.
But the version by Cradle of Filth
I can’t place Cradle of Filth above Iron Maiden, but this is a good version.
One by Metallica, Ratamahatta by Sepultura, The Trooper by Iron Maiden are all up there
Special mention for Gimme Chocolate by Babymetal
Woo hoo Babymetal. Have you heard Electric Cowboy x Babymetal song Ratatata? That’s a banger!
Atreyu - Bleeding Mascara, just punches you in the face with an awesome intro.
That was one of the songs that introduced me to Metalcore. I remember making a mix with that, My Last Serenade, some Folly, and some Anah Aevia, a band I can’t find anything by these days.
All time? Probably Dream Theater’s A change of seasons. But there’s way too many to choose from.
Katatonia - Old heart Falls
Caligula’s Horse - Marigold
Soen - Martyrs
Swallow the sun - Falling World
Haken - 1985
Mastodon - Blood and Thunder
Rotting Christ - Ze nigmar
Draconian - Daylight Misery
Paradise lost - faith divides us /death unites us
Leprous - Rewind
Eons Enthroned - Stormblessed (for fans of the stormlight archive)
Rhapsody (of fire)- emerald sword
Ihsahn - Mass darkness
Gojira - Flying whales
The ocean - jurassic
Opeth - fuck… can’t even pick one… but let’s say ghost of perdition
Dragony - Magic
And many, many, many more…
Painkiller by Judas Priest will always have a special place in my heart due to the hours 11 year old me spent air-guitaring that solo.
Arbitrary choice, but Wherever I May Roam by Metallica never gets old for me.
I definitely didn’t quote this song in my highschool yearbook grad comment…
Good! That would be really embarrassing if we both quoted Metallica songs in our HS yearbooks. Which we definitely did not.
Red Handed Denial - One More Night
Or
Spiritbox - Circle With Me
Thats a hard one. But im a sucker for Metropolis part 1 by dream theater.
Right now its still probably Killing Time and Space by Nekrogoblikon. Goblins, cosmic history, and a banjo? In my metal? Helllll yeah brother.
Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony - Human
This album is a Top 5/desert island choice for me, but No Leaf Clover is my favorite, though I’ve worn it out so much over the years.
Oooh, same. That version of No Leaf Clover is waaaaay up there for me. That and The Memory Remains.
I’m in the weird position that that album was my introduction to metallica, so any version other than the full symphony sounds weird to me 😅
Same here. It was not only my introduction to Metallica, it was literally the first album to get me into non-country music (it’d kinda become my identity as a kid) and the first non-country album I HAD TO BUY (and the first CD purchase that worried my parents). I’ll never forget waking up to my cousin playing that song and thinking, “WHAT. IS. THAT. AMAZING. SOUND!?”
