I wonder if a pi-hole would work on these? Replacing your refrigerator is not a small thing for most people.

      I would hope so.

Though since it’s a Samsung fridge, an expensive, difficult to access control board will break down on its own eventually. Source: Own a Samsung (non-smart) fridge and have replaced an expensive, difficult to access control board despite knowing I should probably just get a different brand.

I’m just surprised that the shelves lasted long enough that the board went first. I picked up two used - LG and Samsung - and the plastic shelves in both were well on their way to falling apart.

Mine are metal brackets with tempered glass shelves. So I guess it could be worse lol.

Still, the only reason I have a Samsung fridge at all is because it came with the house.

It’s the door and the drawers in mine.

I’ve heard good things about Liebherr but they better come with a butler for the price they charge.

If you spent nearly double the cost of a regular fridge on one with a screen, chances are it’s not a significant hardship. The screens will go EOL soon enough anyways.

Could depend on the ISP. Att’s newish fiber gateway bg320 bypasses pihole for DNS lookups on WiFi devices. Even if you use your own wireless access point.

If it is hard to replace something due to cost, perhaps do not spend obscene amounts of money on a luxury version?

I’d rather punish Samsung for enshittifying refrigerators than punish regular people for wanting nice things.
