The most Recent Firmware 5.18.6 FIXED this jailbreak. So make sure you have a Firmware older than that and stop the device from updating!
Fill up the Space of the Kindle and Block autoupdates with the Hotfix. You can check if your Autoupdates are blocked with the “UpdateBlock Status” App from Kindleforge (Custom App Store)
If your Kindle is already on a newer version it’s recommended to just fill up the entire device anyways to make future Updates impossible so that you don’t accidentally get yet another jailbreak fix update when a new jailbreak releases

I had never connected my kindle to wifi and only downloaded books by USB so I never thought I’d need to jailbreak. I just decided to anyway so I could use Koreader and I’m so glad I did. That alone was worth it over the stock reader.
Or just buy a Kobo 🤪

No one talked about buying a new Kindle for Jailbreaking. This is a Community for people who own a Kindle and want to free themselves of Amazons Claws without wasting a perfectly good working device. It would be a waste to just trash it, and not everyone has enough money to just buy new devices like they want.
Kobo DRM suck just as badly as all others. Fuck Kobo.
I only learned about Kobo and its DRM when I bought a Humble Bundle and I couldn’t read my EPUBs on my reader of choice. So once again, fuck Kobo. DRM sucks.
To my knowledge, you can’t OTA download Amazon purchased Kindle books on a Kobo. Many of us already have extensive Kindle libraries we want to access remotely.
