LA has trains? All I know about LA is from films and movies and I don’t recall ever seeing a train. Are there films or shows that feature the LA train system?

That’s… just a tram. Many large cities have them and they indeed sometimes stop at traffic lights. Or when some asshole parked too close to the tracks.

Tram is definitely not the correct word for them, they’re light rail. They have way larger capacity than a tram has, but have some section where they have to cross roads and stop for that reason. They do have their own path as well, so it would be crazy for a car to block its path while parked.

Definitely could be better, but the B and D lines are heavy rail with right of way. The Amtrak and Metrolink I believe have priority over traffic as well.

Speed, SWAT and Collateral come to mind. The Metro rail is featured towards the end of each.

LA has the largest light rail system in the world is my understanding. That being said they cover such a huge area that they’re not practical like New York here they have a dense amount of stations.

Part of the reason they have that title too though is because other parts of the world prefer heavy rail over light rail.
