I think it makes the most sense that the community decides on the rules.

Should we enforce a title formatting? Should we limit posts per day? Should there be an age limit for SFW posts?

Probably way more stuff I can’t think about. But I wish to keep the rules as short as possible.

Is there an ex reddit moderator that would like to help me out?

My main worry with a community like this would be people sharing details, falling out in some way and then blaming mods here for it in some way. I’d be tempted to add a note saying that you aren’t responsible for things that happen outside the community. I think restricting it to 18+ people is a smart move, even if it were not required by the instance rules; that sort of drama happening to minors would be much more problematic.

Apart from that, it looks good!

Regarding the age limit, please keep in mind that anyone under 18 is not allowed to post on Yiffit. This is because we can’t ensure that they will auto-exclude themselves from viewing NSFW content and this could become a liability. Basically we don’t have any effective moderation tools at our disposal to keep minors safe.

      Okay, that makes total sense.

I assume then, that yiffit has a measure in place to prevent minors from other instances to post/access the instance and its content?

Not really. It’s not possible for me to do so, but I’ll happily ban anyone who says they’re a minor in their profile and posts here. Regarding reading only, that I can’t control, but since they’re not our users ultimately the liability is with the instance they belong to.

Okay, thanks for clarification. I’ll make sure to report you minors if they happen to end up here.

I think Title formatting should be a must. It helps show who you are seeking and gives them the general jist of the activity you would like to participate with them in.

If it is interesting enough, they can read further in the body of your post to find out everything said post entails.

Since it is a find furs for other activities type community, I would suggest limiting the amount of topics one can post down to 3. Each activity would need to be different. Say you want to do rp’s but you want to do different kinds of rp. Like an 18+ rp, a general rp, and even a Ttrpg. Those are different enough activities you can post and want to participate in.

Going over 3 seems like advertising and a bit spammy.

But people can respond to however many topics they are interested participating in.

Age limit should be the same as the instance. This is an 18+ instance. Any SFW posts should still be seeking those 18 years and over.

Thank you for your elaborate and helpful answer. I pretty much updated the sidebar to represent this as the rules.

The sidebar will probably need some tweaks, but I’ll do them as we go.

For now I set the limit at 3 activities per day and additionally no new post as long your old ones are still on the front page.

I think we should Define Title tags and format little more. Like fur4fur Title. Example F4M In a galaxy not so far a way…

Fur 4 Fur tags: F: female M Male NB: Non Binary T or C: Optional if you want to designate yourself as Trans or cis Fur: Anyone, similar to Reddit R4R community using R Grp: Groups, this for when looking for more than one other Furs Like F4GRP

Activities RP: sfw Roleplay ERP: Erotic roleplay Chat: TextChat VC: VoiceChat Game: Looking for players for a game JOBuds: Jerk Off Buds IRL: IRL activities

Should we also have introduction Posts? Posts to lay out your Roleplay preferences, limits, etc so that you can link to it in your other posts rather than having to list everything out every time

I also think that we should discourage people from posting their usernames to other platforms publicly. I Don’t think that this should be a rule but I think we should encourage “DM for username”

Thank you. I’m actually on it right now.

      My current approach is:

      How to form a title

Your title should contain, who is searching who and for what activity.

      [<you>4<who>] <activity> - Your title

<you>: Abbreviation of your gender identity in capital letter.
<who>: Abbreviation of gender identity of the person you are searching for in capital letter.
<activity>: Full text title of activity you want to do.

Use “G” if you are searching for groups.

You can prefix <you> and/or <who> with “p” for “playing as” and “f” for “favoring”.

      Examples:

[M4A] Adult chat - I’m collecting yiff of all Pokémon, can you help me out?
This means: “Male searching for any person for an adult chat.”

[pF4fM] Erotic roleplay - Vixen meets wolfpack
This means: “A person playing female is searching for any person (favoring males) for an erotic roleplay.”

[G4A] Meet in Zurich CH - Bröötle am Zürisee
This means: “A group of people is searching for any person to meet in Zürich Switzerland.”

[TF4G] Meet around Munich DE - Is there a fursuit building group open for a new member?
This means: “A trans female is searching for a group in the area of Munich Germany.”

What do you think about that?

I think I let people choose their gender abbreviation themself. That’s why I decided against a gender glossary (also it feels wrong to do so). As for activities I think it is better when no abbreviations are used, it is easier to comprehend in my opinion.

I love your idea with the introduction posts. So you don’t have to put every detail over and over again into your new posts. I think I even make that as an requirement. Edit: Changed my mind, it is optional.

I’ll add an encouragement for “DM for username” in the sidebar. But I cannot require that because some federated instances are not able to DM to others. For example I was not able to DM to this instance from Kbin.
