Seems we’ve got two communities !wheeloftime@lemmy.ml and !wotshow@lemmy.ml.

Got nothing against multiple communities and diversity etc, but in this case I’m thinking it might be unnecessary? Was there an argument amongst mods?

If true, I don’t know what to do exactly, but figure some discussions around what people would prefer might help.

For me, I’d collapse down to one community, merge the moderators, and create some basic spoiler guidelines to separate non-book readers from book discussion and spoilers for the show etc.

Well discovery. I didn’t know of one until recently. They could at least promote each other in the side bars.

Inconvenience. If I’m writing a post that could go in both, do I cross post and then monitor both sets of comments? Realistically people will just gravitate to one community if there isn’t much reason to hang around in the second and hanging around both is work.

Community building. Facilitating connections and social interaction is the whole point. Unless there’s a good reason to have split communities, it just divides attention and the community.

There’s also the problem of things getting lost in feeds. Sure many will be visiting these communities directly, but then again that’s maybe one more unnecessary community to visit.
